My first Project Life layout that I'm going to share with you is using only the Project Life Kit.
My second Project Life layout spread I decided to include as an insert within week 2. All of the elements used on these pages are from the Project Life main kit. I also used both digital printables, the project life digital brush stamps, and the cut files.
I was out running errands and when I came home, I found my girls and husband outside in the backyard. I asked them in they were having fun playing in the leaves. My oldest daughter who is five years old looked at me kinda funny and said, "No mom were cleaning up the yard for spring, but we're having fun raking the leaves, you should always have fun while you work" .... she paused... thought for a moment, then said, "because life's too short to be unhappy so we are having fun while we work." Then my youngest daughter looked at her and then me and said, "I'm going to be happy and play in the leaves!" My husband turned up the music and we had a leaf party.
The story was so sweet and pictures so fun I knew I wanted to dedicate an entire spread/insert to the story. I used Becky Higgins Design G & 5x7 horizontal Photo Protectors for my layouts.
I wanted to highlight that my oldest daughter was happiest working and raking the leaves, while my youngest was throwing the leaves and dancing around, so I enlarged a photo of each daughter to a 6x8 to make it the focal point of their respective page. Because there was no spot that size I trimmed the photo in half so I had two 4x6 horizontal photos that fit into the appropriate spaces. I also had more horizontal photos that I wanted to include so I divided both lower vertical 4x6 spaces with my sewing machine using a straight stitch into 3x4 horizontal spaces.
My third layout at Studio Calico this month is Beach Week.
This week will actually go into my 2012 album. This Project Life week covers the first week of our family vacation. I had so much fun mixing pieces from the Main Kit, Big Screen, Matinee, & Junior Mints to come up with a travel/happy/beach spread that feels fresh and summery even though the kit was designed in February. I mixed Project Life Cards with the Digital Printables from the Bright Ideas class... that totally rocked my world and kicked off the color scheme for the week.
This Project Life layout is from our beach vacation and is one of my most favorite to date. When we received the February Kits and I saw the, "I Love You to the Moon and Back" PL card I knew instantly that I wanted to use it for the moment we went to the beach for the first time. It was late afternoon, the sun was starting to set and the moon had already risen.... when my oldest daughter saw the moon she looked up at me and said, "Mama it is a special day the moon came out at day to welcome us to the beach! He knows that you and daddy loves us to the moon and back" I'll never forget that moment....
